NOTE: There are a number of bylaw documents being circulated. All of them are drafts and do not reflect the final version, or who will be listed as members of the Elders Chapter. The most up-to-date version will be linked at the bottom of this article.
Since the beginning, the point of the Proud Boys has been to be a drinking fraternity for men who are sick and tired of the politically correct sewage flowing into every aspect of our lives.
Our monthly meetups are a place where you can get away from the bat-shit crazy reality fueled by the Orwellian political climate of the current era.
While much of the meetings are kept secret to outsiders, they mostly consist of drinking, socializing, and reading aloud from Pat Buchanan’s Death of the West.
It is a place where men can be men. We can fart, make crude jokes, and not worry about offending any ladies. (That doesn’t make us anti-women, in fact much of our meetups are spent encouraging other members to pursue relationships, get engaged to their girlfriends, and eventually create families.)
In the past this wasn’t controversial. Men’s clubs were the norm. The same “shenanigans” we might get into during a drunken night on the town were not looked at as nefarious.
But the Proud Boys are different.
Despite always having, and welcoming men of every race, creed, and sexual orientation, we are constantly called racist, sexist, and homophobic.
Our black brothers are called “white supremacists” by entitled white liberals and violent communists.
The media often even makes up new terms to smear us, making up terms like “neo-fascists” while neglecting the fact that the majority of the group would consider themselves libertarian, which is antithetical to fascism.
And the media regurgitates their lies to fit their narrative.
They are attacking us because we are men who are not ashamed of who we are. They are attacking us in hopes of harming President Trump. And they are attacking us because they are lazy journalists willing to take what’s found in antifa blog as news in order to get hits on their shitty websites.
But despite what the media wants to say about us, we aren’t going to back down.
Gavin McInnes (peace be upon him) was never our leader. He is our founder, and we appreciate his service to the greatest fraternity to ever exist. But we will continue on unaffected by his departure.
Despite being banned from Twitter, Facebook, and any other big tech platform we may try to join, we aren’t backing down.
But with Gavin’s reluctant departure, there are some changes happening to the organizational structure to allow us to be a more official fraternal organization.
The Proud Boys has officially made the State of Texas its official legal home and, for the first time, filed the paperwork necessary to become a legally existing business entity. Simultaneously, it has adopted a set of bylaws that were drafted by our attorney – J.L. Van Dyke – to structure our organization as the fraternal organization we have been since our founding.
All chapters using the Proud Boys brand must follow these new bylaws, which will be enforce by an “Elders Chapter” consisting of eight duly elected brothers, and a Chairman.
After serving in a temporary capacity to secure a vote on the bylaws, J.L. Van Dyke vacated the chairman position so that our brothers could vote on members of the Elders Chapter. The duly elected Chairman of the Elders Chapter is Enrique Tarrio, current President of the Miami, Florida chapter.
Despite their elevated designation, neither the Elders nor the Chairman should be considered “leaders” in the organization.
The vast majority of power resides in local chapters, who are largely autonomous. Their autonomy is only superseded by the rules outlined in the by-laws, much like state’s operate under the Constitution of the United States.
Very little has changed. We still are not allowing those who identify as alt-right, white nationalist, or white supremacists in the organization, just as we don’t allow those on the alt-left, or who identify as communists.
We don’t do this to “capitulate.” This is who we are, and what we believe. Discrimination based on immutable traits is wrong, and is explicitly prohibited by our bylaws.
As our bylaws make clear, we are not a gang. Violence has never been encouraged in the organization. Using out of context quotes made on a comedy/news show, and selective video doesn’t change that.
As far as we know, there is no FBI designation stating otherwise as many news outlets are claiming. The claim is third party coming from a police department known to be hostile to us in the past.
If you are looking for violent gang-like activity, please watch the plethora of in context videos of antifa violently assaulting people, destroying property, and illegally directing traffic while threatening people.
A slightly redacted version of these bylaws can be accessed at this link.
